Day 6 Your Brand
Seven years ago I decided to open an Etsy Shop (originally called Ornamental by J Phelan). Before starting my shop I made ornaments for my family and close friends that I gave out as gifts at Christmas time. I really enjoyed coming up with fun new designs each year, and everyone loved receiving them. Once I started traveling, I was inspired to create lasting mementos of my trip (Solana the Sloth was my ‘first born’, in memory of a trip to Costa Rica!) A few years later I opened my shop, crossed my fingers, and hoped others would love my creations too.
Over the years my shop has morphed, had one name change, and as of January of this year I decided to go in a slightly different direction. After the success of Sampson the Sasquatch, Ollie the Ohio Grassman and Manny the Mothman I realized how much fun I was having researching and creating Cryptids. Currently I still offer my most popular ‘Travel Tree’ ornaments but have started the process of designing a cryptid ornament for every state. What Cryptid would you like to see made into an ornament?
